during the evening presentation. |
| Sunday morning |
ADZPCTKO Breakfast
This traditional sendoff includes eggs, ham, veggie sausage patties, and cereal. |
For all other meals, you’re on your own. Although
there won’t be any organized large-scale potluck meals, we suggest that you
bring some food to share with other nearby ADZ attendees. This’ll be more along
the lines of "get to know the folks with whom you're crammed into this
campsite."
At all meals, this year’s brave prospective thru hikers
get priority service and can go to the front of the line. We expect to have
enough food for everyone else—we’ve never run out before—but you might have a
few emergency meals stashed in your camp.
Special Diets
We'll have vegetarian options at all meals, but several of
you made special dietary requests—vegan, kosher, South Beach, don’t like
tomatoes, whatever. We’ll do what we can to accommodate you, but understand that
we don’t even know what half those terms mean. If you’re serious about your
restrictions, be prepared by having your own food available.
Other Alternatives
Bill "Teutonic Knight" Jennings canvassed the locals a week before the
kickoff. Here's his report:
- The Campo Diner (Cameron Corners) owner is not appreciated and considered
unfriendly by the locals.
- The Cameron Corners store is glad to be aware of the KO influx, so are the
Minutemen down at the terminus. The store has some sandwiches and a few
dreaded microwaveable items.
- The Village Inn in Lake Morena is now McGuffy's Bar and Grill (29804 Oak
Dr, 619-478-5480). Troy McGuffy purchased the establishment. Kept the same
employees and is aware of the KO.
- The Malt shop (outside eating sit-down for 8) says that on Monday will be
prepared to have the following menu: Breakfast - Biscuits and gravy for $4.50,
Hot Cakes and eggs - $3.75. Lunch - Deli Style Sandwiches $4.64 ($5 incl. tax)
Roast Beef, Ham and Turkey all with Cheese. Then Hamburger - $4.50. Cheese
Burger - 4.75, Bacon Burger - $5.75, Double Cheese Burger - $6.75, Double
Bacon & Cheese Burger - $7.25, Fries - $2.50. Malts and Shakes $4.50-$4.75,
and of course all the liquor imaginable.
- Mount Laguna is well stocked and ready for the influx.
- Warner Springs P. O. has 75 boxes and about ready to run out of room.
