We've begun a new tradition with our long-time hiking buds Bill and Norm: we get together (with spouses, unlike on our backpack trips) for weekend getaways. One recent getaway (April 27-29, 2001) was in Yosemite. We rented a cabin in the hamlet of Foresta, which is located inside the park, not too far from Yosemite Valley. The home where we stayed, in fact, is named Half Dome View.

This was a fantastic time to be in Yosemite: the falls were gushing, the dogwoods were beginning to bloom, the wildflowers were plentiful, and the weather was perfect.
